One of my big projects for this past Christmas was to make a scarf and hat set for each of my four nephews. There is a substantial age gap between the youngest and oldest and I didn’t want to ask each of them their head size and spoil the surprise. So of course I did what any good knitter would do: I decided to wing it.Read More
Happy new year!
I gave up making new year’s resolutions way back in my youth. I never followed through. Seriously, I never remembered that even made any resolutions. But this year I have a new blog and the opportunity to make resolutions that I will enjoy keeping. Without further ado, I present my resolutions for 2016: Read More
I’m pretty much done with my Christmas knitting. Well, except for one thing. That I have to pull out. And have been avoiding doing so. That person who may or may not be my brother may or may not be getting a picture of what they may or may not be getting for Christmas instead.
With two weeks of vacation ahead of me I have started digging around Ravelry for patterns for my next project. It has been a pretty mild winter this year. Which is good because I have no mittens and I make mittens and fingerless gloves for everyone else so I can darn well make them for myself. To remedy my missing mitten situation, I’ve decided what I really need are convertible mittens.Read More
I’ve finished my Christmas gift knitting. Well, mostly. I still have socks for my brother. But I knit them too big and he took forever to send me his actual size, so I’m waiting until I’m on Christmas vacation and have daylight to unravel the socks by. I don’t have any portable projects or WiPs that I want to pick up right now. So I’m taking this time to rest my wrists (something I like to do every now and then).Read More
I love the look of boot cuffs and figured they would be be a super quick on-the-go project (yay for additional Christmas gifts!). Knit in Lion Brand Yarns Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, it is indeed super quick. Based on how fast this project is and how much of that yarn I have left over from my Christmas project over-purchase, I might possibly end up handing out boot cuffs to strangers out shopping.Read More
I love television and movies. Seriously, really passionate about it.* Also, it’s the perfect way to get a lot of knitting done on a regular basis. It’s possible I talk about what I watch so often that one of my knitter friends suggested I could blog about what I watched while I knit. This weekend, I watched Marvel’s Jessica Jones. All 13 episodes. Ooo, boy!Read More
Have you ever knit something that was so amazing and perfect and exactly what you always wanted (but didn’t realize) that you couldn’t wait to put it on each day? This is it. This shawl is so amazing and this yarn so perfect that I would probably wear this around the house on a pajama day merely to dress things up.Read More
It’s October and I’ve finished the projects on my needles that were taking forever. Now a couple quick Christmas gifts for some of my favorite people. Last year I made two of my nephews quick and simple hats out of bulky yarn. This year I thought I’d make a hat and scarf set for all of my nephews. It’s a basic hat from The Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns. The hat seems like it might be small and it’s certainly dense. I think I’ll try larger needles next time.Read More
They are complete. After all of the futzy work of the Prickly Pear socks, at this point, I’m asking myself, “Self, why do you keep making these lacy socks that take forever to knit? Why not just get self striping yarn and just make those in stockinette?” To which I reply, “Look self, it’s because these socks are so pretty!” And they are.Read More
